News: Pop-Tarts Cereal Will Return in Early 2019!

(Update: We reviewed both flavors!)

You ever hear news so good, it gets you feeling a little warm?

But not like, the bad, sweaty, smelly kind. Or the hauntingly feverish kind either. More like the cozily grill-lined, hot & toasty feeling of a warm blanket, or perhaps a toaster set to massage mode.

That’s how I felt when receiving visual confirmation that Pop-Tarts Crunch, a cereal thought to be lost by the technicolor dawn of Y2K and then unsuccessfully rebooted around 2013, will be returning to shelves on just as the year 20-ea-ting ends.

According to Kellogg’s, both Strawberry Pop-Tarts Cereal and Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts Cereal, both of which strangely lost the Crunch—probably to Cap’n Crunch in some sort of pirate fight over whatever international waters discontinued cereals are banished to—will be available in early 2019. As the Big K asserts us:

“Pop-Tarts cereal is back and even better. The new cereal delivers the best about Pop-Tarts – filling and frosting in every bite!”

At one point, prototype art of a S’Mores Pop-Tarts Cereal was discovered, but Pop-Tarts has confirmed that it will not be produced or released—leaving us unsure whether it was ever meant to, especially as it directly used art from the now-discontinued S’Mores Krave.

Sad news, but for now, I’ll just set my Animal Crossing town’s in-game clock to January 1st, 2019 and demand to speak with Tom Nook’s breakfast distributor.

  1. Whomever is the taste tester for this cereal needs to be fired. Bought a box of cinnamon and regret that decision. Tastes nothing like any pop tart I’ve ever eaten in my life. Honestly one of the worst tasting cereals I’ve ever had. Would rather eat bran flakes over this stuff any day.

  2. I’m cautiously optimistic about these. OG Pop Tarts Crunch was a favorite of mine, so I just hope it’s close in flavor/texture and this isn’t just Krave with a paintjob.

  3. This is such great news. So happy they’re bringing these cereals back. I never got to try the Brown Sugar flavor back in the early 90’s. But I definitely loved the Strawberry one. I hope sales go well and they consider re-releasing other discontinued cereals. I doubt that would happen, but you never know.

  4. According to those boxes, the net weight is 0.00 ounces. These cheapskate companies just keep making these cereal boxed smaller and smaller…

  5. General Mills is getting smoked by Post & Kelloggs in the sugary cereal revival because they’re run by stubborn health nuts.

  6. My body is ready lol Maybe Pumpkin Spice, Sugar Cookie, Peanut Butter, and Gingerbread flavors will make an appearance…..

  7. S’Mores Crunch/S’Mores Grahams is the only S’mores flavored cereal I will ever recognize.

What’s holding GM back? Just add Marbits and chocolateyness to Golden Grahams… easy!
