News: Three New Cereals on the Way from Annie’s Homegrown

Move over, Trix Rabbit: you aren’t the only bunny in the cereal aisle any more. Annie’s Homegrown and General Mills have just announced the launch of three new USDA certified organic breakfast cereals.

From soup, to yogurt, to crackers, Annie’s has a bigger product line than a litter of rabbits. They even had a larger line of cereal that lasted from 2007-2012. I will say, though, that in my college town, the brand is best known for its legendary and addictive Shells & White Cheddar pasta.

Fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately depending on who you are), none of these cereals are mac & cheese flavored. Instead, the three flavors are Berry Bunnies, Cocoa Bunnies, and the conspicuously non-bunny shaped Frosted Oat Flakes.

I can only hope that the bunny cereals taste just like their Bunny Grahams in a bowl, just because I’m so desperate for a spiritual successor to Teddy Grahams Breakfast Bears. At the very least, I can dream that Frosted Oat Flakes will be like a glazed version of the already delicious Trader Joe’s Toasted Oatmeal Flakes.

Regardless of how they taste, when these cereals are released in April, you’d better believe that me and so many others will be “making like rabbits” to go out and try them.

Wait, wait…I don’t think that phrase means what I think it does.

  1. btw just forgot to ask:
was the teddy graham creal really THAT good? I only hear good or to be more precicely amazing stuff about it and since i love cookies like those teddy grahams(i’m sure they are similar to any animal cookies around?) i’m curious about the cereal. Did the cereal just consist of “plain” teddy grahams that never really combined with the milk or where they specially made as “cereal pieces” with the flavor of teddy grahams that turn milk into cereal milk? (the last part is pretty important! I realized that’s one of the main things i love about cereal and the main reason i hate krave cereal with milk… ’cause they never build a symbiosis with the milk.)

    • I’m too young to ever have tried Teddy Grahams’ cereal, but from every delicious report I’ve read, they tasted just like Teddy Grahams in milk.

      • Alright… sounds… okayish…
Not what i hoped for the “legendary and famous” teddy graham cereals but milk with animal cookies isn’t that bad either. ^^
Thanks for the answer, though the question was probably a bit stupid and i wasn’t aware you weren’t able to eat them while they were still available 🙁
        (Sorry :()

  2. i’ve to admit that i’m not really crazy about those new cereals from annie’s… though i’m pretty interested in the texture of the bunnys and the taste, since they look like really puffy extruded corn/rice/oat pieces (a lot like the discontinued Kosmostars) but with rice an oat in them, which is another interesting thing. xD)

And maybe the berry bunnies taste like real berries and not that artifical. I’m looking forward to your review 🙂

  3. I’m not gonna lie, I am a bit stoked about these. Did they put out cereals in the past? Me and my toddler-aged boys plow all bunny flavors, particularly the graham mix and sour cream.
