Spooned & Spotted: Post Mixed Berry, Cinnamon Roll, & S’Mores Bites Shredded Wheat

Post Mixed Berry, Cinnamon Roll, and S'Mores Shredded Wheat Cereals

Frosted Mini-Wheats, prepare to Frosted Mini-Meet your maker.

Post Shredded Wheat has been around for a while, but until now, Shredded Wheat hasn’t exactly been the more exciting brand of thatched wheat biscuits. Somehow, kids prefer Frosted Mini-Wheats’ caked-on frosting and oceans of saccharine detritus in their cereal boxes over sugar-free bran and glisteningly sticky roasted nut flavor.

But now all that is about to change. In the wake of what is perhaps Frosted Mini-Wheats’ greatest cereal sin, changing their classy biscuit mascot to some sort of SpongeBobian abomination, Post has debuted three new bite-sized Shredded Wheat varieties. Mixed Berry, Cinnamon Roll, and S’Mores Bites are already excitingly unique flavors on their own, but each new biscuity breed is also filled with flavored chips to (hopefully) make their dry wheat exteriors explode with bursts of berry, vanilla, and chocolate flavor, respectively.

Not since Hidden Treasures Cereal have I been so geeked to get backhanded in the taste buds.

Shoutout to reader Austin K. for sending me this photo from Walmart. I look forward to collecting all three boxes like they’re semisweet-stuffed Pokémon cards, mixing all three into a single bowl, and playing a dangerous game of berry bushel/bakery/bonfire roulette.

If you’ve got a cereal photo of your own to share, snap, crackle, and pop right on over to our submissions page!

  1. The s’mores flavor is addicting and the cinnamon roll one is good too. Have not tried the berry one/

  2. Am i the only one that is afraid the attempt to make a “s’mores” cereal flavor is going to fail again? xD

The berry flavor is a solid idea and kellogg’s already proofs, that this combination works (with their strawberry, blueberry and raspberry flavors). So i’m not excited, but i also think the flavor will taste great. It’s just not the most inventive flavor (especially compared to the other two).
    But i get it

Cinnamon Roll sounds like a winner here and somehow Austin already confirmed it. Cinnamon, Milk, Shredded Grain, that soaks up milk/flavor and gets soggy over time combined with white chocolate vanilla morsels, that turn the milk into some vanilla milk goodness? <— If you really mess this up you should think about getting a new job. xD

BUT the s'mores cereal… it's like with all the Cookie and Cream stuff that tries to mimic Oreos… they never be as good as the original and will always lack something (i even heard Oreo O's are an amazing cereal but not exactly Oreos (flavorwise)). And though we will have chocolate within the shredded wheat (which works well an in my opinion way better than in krave cereal; but i also hate krave cereal with milk), and maybe the sweet vanilla flavor of the marshmallows with the glacing… i don't think they can nail the graham flavor and the cereal will miss the "toasted experience".

But i get it… calling the cereal "Frosted Chocilla Bites" or "Frosted Vanillade Bites" wouldn't sell good 😉

  3. Thanks for the feature it is truly an honor! After trying the cinnamon roll variety I can confidently say that it lived up to my expectations. The vanilla filling sets it apart from Mini-Wheats and gives it an extra sweetness combined with the cinnamon flavored frosting. They do taste similar to the maple and brwon sugar Mini-Wheats just with more vanilla and cinnamon. Highly recommended!
