News: Cap’n Crunch Teams Up with KITH Treats for a Unique Cereal-Fashion Collaboration

Who says a white-haired, curly mustachioed sea captain can’t roll with the cool kids?

With the help of NYC fashion company KITH, Cap’n Crunch is ditching his barnacle-encrusted nautical garb for some truly 21st century threads. I guess he finally realized that epaulets are so last millennium. The partnership between the Cap’n and KITH comes as an extension of the latter’s KITH Treats cereal bar—the first of its kind in the city, predating even Kellogg’s recent foray into the cereal café game.

The ever-trendy KITH Treats has partnered with nostalgia icons like Power Rangers and Rugrats in the past, and since I’ve written before that Cap’n Crunch is nostalgia embodied, it makes sense that KITH designer Ronnie Fieg would make the Cap’n his next V.I.P.

Any party that has Rita Repulsa, Tommy Pickles, and Cap’n Crunch on the guest list is worth sneaking past the bouncer for.

But midwesterners like me will have to do a lot more than sneak if we want to be a part of the KITH x Crunch collaboration: we’ll have to buy plane tickets, too. The heart of this partnership will be the two pop-up shops KITH is opening next weekend in NYC and Miami. These shops will have custom Cap’n Crunch flavor combos for eating, an exclusive line of apparel and accessories for wearing, and a limited run of “Cap’n Kith” cereal boxes for snagging/treasuring/storing in a safe deposit box from now until eternity.

The full KITH x Cap’n video below features what appears to be an animated sneak peek at the boxes. A handful of swanky pins have been teased by Fieg on Instagram, and you can preview a shirt and hat from the collection (as well as some chic milk bottles) here. It all looks, as the kids these days would definitely not say, “mad phat.”

I have to question why KITH’s video features ’60s-era Crunch villain Magnolia Bulkhead as a loving member of the S.S. Guppy’s crew, but the fact that she makes an appearance at all is a (KITH) treat in itself.

But you know what else I have to question? Who out there is willing to send a geographically-isolated cereal blogger a box of Cap’n Kith…and perhaps a pair of Crunchin’ kicks, too? I promise to repay you in South Korean Oreo O’s.

  1. KITH… the first time i saw a report about KITH (as young, very young and just opened start up) i was hooked by the idea. i loved it. Way more than the Cereal Killer Cafe “idea” in London. And everytime i hear about KITH i want to go there xD
So I’m pretty happy their are doing “quite” fine ^^

But let’s hope they come up with more or different “signature cereal ideas” than shown in the sneak preview (which seem to be original cap’n crunch mixed with chocolatey crunchs and marshmallows). I mean the Nike signature cereal aren’t that bad (especially THe Cortez sounds nice ^^)
