…is what I said to myself upon hearing the news that Waffle Crisp, discontinued in 2018, was returning to American shelves. Less than a week ago, I penned an overdramatic elegy for Waffle Crisp, believing I may have just taste tested one of the last produced boxes of the stuff in Mexico—where it seemingly never really got discontinued in the first place.
Honestly, it was a cathartic exercise of closure, and Post had to go ruin the moment’s beauty by pulling a deus ex machina, bagging up a bunch of Waffle Crisp, and shipping it out. I’m kidding, of course: I’m genuinely very excited that Waffle Crisp will have wide availability again. These bags have already been spotted at Walmart, and you can check their site for availability near you.
However, I will warn you that this newly returned Waffle Crisp appears to be the same as the Mexican edition—in fact, those didn’t even have Spanish boxes. Just stickers over the English text. What that means is, it’s probably gonna taste a bit different from what you remember. In my experience, this strain of Waffle Crisp emphasizes the buttery and toasted elements of a waffle more so than the maple bits. This is still good, mind you, but if your nostalgia trip feels a little off, that’s probably why.

I agree with the comment on top that the flavor is not remotely the same as it once was.
As the comment said, the milk leftover is flavorless. It used to leave behind a very strong and pungent maple flavor.

Not even halfway through one. If it was the old recipe, it would all be gone by now!
Old recipe was SO GOOD that you’d pour a other bowl right after finishing the first. It was THAT good!
New one kind of sucks… Super bland. No flavor in the milk. Gets soggy in 20 seconds or less. Really quite the disappointment, considering I went out of my way to find a couple of bags.
Please, bring back the original recipe! We don’t care if it’s high sugar. That’s what we want.
Me personally I liked the boxed cereal better this bag stuff is way different when put in milk the sweet taste that it had is gone it just taste like a waffle with no syrup.
As you use it the space shelf required goes down versus a box that’s a constant. What’s not to love? 😉
I went to no fewer than three walmarts looking for this. They all had shelf space for it, but no cereal. Might need to check Ebay!
How the hell does anyone use or store one of these feedbags? Just using a regular box makes a big enough mess with cereal dust.
The bags really bug me too, since I like neatly shelving boxes
