Cereal Time with Gabe Fonseca — Batman vs. Superman, Just Right, and Basic 4 Cereals

Need a superhero who can save you from afternoon boredom?

Well fear no more, concerned citizen, because Captain Cereal Time (secret identity: Gabe Fonseca) has released two new videos in his YouTube series that we’d like to share with you.

Though most of you are probably already aware, in the Cereal Time series, Gabe drops fun, historical, and nostalgic knowledge bombs about different cereals each week.

Speaking of which, I wonder when he’ll cover Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs?

The above video features Gabe’s take on General Mills’ buzz-worthy new Batman vs. Superman Cereals. (Gee, I wonder where he managed to find the boxes? 😉)

And while Gabe’s opinion on who won this “cereal clash of the titans” differs from mine, I can still respect it. Because, let’s be honest here, both of these superhero cereals are tasty enough to have blockbuster movies made about them.

They could even bring back George Clooney. After all, he already knows a thing or two about playing a cardboard, lifeless Batman.

Oh, and the coolest part of Gabe’s video? He got featured on the AV Club for it! Congrats, Gabe: I’m still waiting for the day the AV Club spotlights me in an article called “You Won’t Believe How Many Pointless Words This Guy Can Write About Frozen Pop-Tarts.”

Gabe’s most recent video discusses two “adult” cereals. You know, those strange varieties of cereals that are placed far above a child’s reach, that have disturbingly high percentage of raisins, and that are sold in discrete baggies with triple X’s on them to protect the eyes of minors?

Err…maybe not that last one.

Gabe first looks to the past to discuss Just Right, a discontinued raisin, date, and nut cereal that he was particularly fond of. From there, he transitions into Basic 4, which is essentially Just Right’s spiritual successor.

Personally, I’m a big fan of Basic 4. Not only because its yogurt-covered bits are delicious, but also because because it makes up one-third of General Mills’ “obscure health cereal trilogy,” a designation I just invented.

By buying Basic 4, Raisin Nut Bran, and Oatmeal Crisp, I can feel like a true cereal hipster. Now all I need is a typewriter, some thick-rimmed glasses, and the ability to grow terribly patchy facial hair.

I already have one of those. Please don’t make me say which.

If Gabe’s videos are Just Right for you, every Cereal Time video can be found here, and you can check out Gabe’s Twitter, as well.

I’m still team superman no matter what gabe is saying! Caramel > Chocolate and definitely over strawberry (urghs…) ^^

So… you want to be featured on the AV Club? hm… solution: make videos of your amazing pop-tart reviews. would love to see them. i mean… toasted, frozen and overly sweet deliciousness “live” and reviewed by my favorite foodie? Hell Yeah! ^^
