News: KIND Cereal Comes to Walmart in Four Flavors

KIND Cereal Cranberry Almond Box

Am I excited for KIND Cereal? Well, kind of.

Sure, creative new cereal ideas are always welcome, but at the $6.98 price point KIND and Walmart are asking per box, these suckers better include a pouch of truffle oil as the prize inside. Not to mention how, after reviewing 9 similarly concepted Cerealology cereals with exciting ingredients like matcha and figs, it’s hard for me super excited about four more (comparatively tame) super grain cereals.

KIND Cereal Honey Almond Box

But maybe that’s just me—if you’re the type of person who doesn’t exhaustively gorge themself on a nonuplet of cereals at a time, you might find something to look forward to from KIND cereals. For while the likes of Cranberry Almond and Honey Almond feel familiar, there is some innovation to be embraced here.

KIND Cereal Apple Cinnamon Box

With Cheerios as the most notable example, apple cinnamon isn’t the most original cereal idea either, but if Special K’s interpretation is any indication, the heartier and more layered your spiced ‘n’ sweet orchard-in-a-bowl gets, the better. Though I will say that H-E-B and Cerealology really spoiled me with yogurt-coated flakes, so the absence of a creamy, craggy shards here feels like KIND of a let down.

(Yes, I will spam that weak pun as much as I can. Would you KINDly let me have this one?)

KIND Cereal Dark Chocolate Almond Box

Perhaps the only KIND cereal to earn rapturous applause from my stomach is Dark Chocolate Almond. If there was one thing Cerealology’s line lacked, it was a simple, chocolatey entry. Between almonds and genuine dark chocolate nibs, this is the flavor to watch—by which I mean, the flavor to watch me chug a whole box of. But whether it ends up tasting like KIND’s wunderkind or its finest kindling remains to be seen: without samples from Walmart, I might have to cut my losses. After all, why waste $28 on four different cereals when I can just spend it all on a single four-part choco-nutty avalanche?
