Lucky Charms Crispy Rice Clusters Cereal Box

Oh, Lucky, you beautiful chameleon of predatory cereal assimilation: you’ve done it again!

Early last year, the breakfast aisle’s favorite impish Irelander threw all caution to the sugar-swirled wind with Lucky Charms Frosted Flakes, a marbit mashup that may not have tasted amazing, but was nevertheless a flippant play that earned my respect for poking the Kellogg’s tiger-bear.

And now, in a move so unprecedented in both shade and punctuality, it seems Lucky Charms wants to remedy the biggest cereal crisis to plague an infinity of earths: the death of Rice Krispies Treats Cereal as we knew it.

Originally spotted by @markie_devo, the above box of Lucky Charms Crispy Rice Clusters Cereal evidently comes from a quasi-secret new product alert group run by General Mills—a crunchy cabal I’m putting on my best ninja garb to infiltrate (I only own shades of pastel, so it’s not easy).

By all first perceptions, Lucky Charms Crispy Rice Clusters simply can’t be seen as anything but a direct dig at Kellogg’s bafflingly stingy decision to turn Rice Krispies Treats’ buttery clusters into Frosted Krispies. Lucky’s clusters are shaped the same, and the box’s color is even the same as the original, beautifully aquamarined Rice Krispies Treats Cereal box!

To add insult to injury, Lucky is keeping his famous colorful marshmallows around, proving to Kellogg’s that not only can the original RKTC formula exist, but it can also still be paired with marshmallows—and ‘mallows that are cooler than little white snowballs, too.

There’s no word just yet on when this cereal might hit shelves—and because it’s from an experimental, though official source, I can’t 100% confirm that it will just yet—but regardless of Lucky Charms Crispy Rice Clusters’ fate, the mere existence of its box art is enough of a clapback to earn Lucky a St. Pat on the back.

Your move, Kellogg’s!

  1. This stuff is trash. The new pathetic recipe of rktc is absolutely terrible yet it’s still better than this. I’ve never witnessed anything fail so badly. I don’t know how you fck up this bad and honestly I think I’m more confused than my dog was when she met mommy #9

  2. Come on man, they can bring back RKTC at anytime and are choosing not to. I’ve looked for KRTC for almost 20 years now. I think the last time i saw it was 1995 or so.

  3. I’m looking forward to this after the disappointment of Lucky Charms with frosted flakes (just didn’t work for me). I think this makes a lot more sense and will be perfect with the marshmallows. ANYTHING with Rice Krispies Treats is good with me 🙂

  4. My wife got me six pack of family size Rice Krispies Treats Cereal. I have three and a half left so hopefully this comes out before zero hour. 😀

  5. I worry how whole grain rice will compare to real Rice Krispies.

I mean, General Mills isn’t going back on their whole grain pledge now, are they??

    That said, I’m pumped.
